Rod Benders Charters is a locally operated marine charter company serving Central Vancouver Island. With over 50 years of combined fishing experience, local knowledge and community involvement. We pride ourselves on offering guided trips that balance professionalism with the laid-back spirit of coastal BC. Every outing is private, personable, and designed to fit your goals — whether that’s landing your first salmon or exploring the coast in comfort.

What’s included in a fishing charter?
All charters include your boat, licensed captain, fishing gear, bait, safety equipment, and fuel. We also provide onboard guidance and assistance throughout your trip. All you need to bring is your fishing license and a sense of adventure.
What are your prices?
Fishing charters are $160 per hour with a 3-hour minimum.
3-hour trip: $480
5-hour trip: $800
8-hour trip: $1,150 (save $130)
Custom charters, two-day trips, land-based tours, water taxi services, and other experiences are priced based on duration and distance. Contact us for a custom quote.
Can I get picked up?
Yes. Pickup locations can be arranged depending on your location and the type of trip. Let us know where you’re coming from and we’ll confirm availability and any additional details.
Do I need any fishing experience?
Not at all! Our charters are designed for all experience levels. From first-time fishers to seasoned anglers. We’ll walk you through everything you need to know, and we also offer private fishing lessons if you’d like extra hands-on instruction.
What should I bring on the trip?
We recommend dressing in layers, wearing non-slip shoes, and bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, and snacks. If you plan to keep your catch, please bring a cooler for transport.
How far in advance should I book?
During peak season (May through September), we recommend booking at least 1–2 weeks in advance to secure your preferred time. Last-minute bookings are welcome based on availability.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Safety always comes first. If the weather conditions aren’t suitable for your trip, we’ll work with you to reschedule or provide a full refund. No hassles, no surprises.
